The Active Directory mass administration tool was created primarily to assist with scavenging old user and computer accounts. It will search for all accounts in a Microsoft Active Directory and allow you to select multiple accounts for enabling, disabling, or deletion. While this utility is still under development it is fully functional, with the remaining efforts focusing on user interface enhancement and handling errors in cases where the user running the program does not have sufficient permissions to perform the actions they select. It has been tested on multiple Active Directory domains using Domain Admin level accounts and has proven to perform acceptably on domains with hundreds of user and computer accounts.
This is a version 2.0 replacement for my ADLookup tool. It is an almost total rewrite featuring the following enhancements:
- All Active Directory interactions have been moved into separate threads so the GUI no longer freezes while performing actions. This was not a problem with a small number of accounts, but was annoying with larger domains.
- Additional fields have been added to display the login name, description, and location.
- The ability to change accounts has been added. Previously it was more of a reporting tool for identifying accounts, and you could display and sort the accounts, but had to disable them manually.
